Afternoon Tea at The Whitney – A Moment to Savor

Dear friends,
Sometimes, the most refreshing thing you can do is steep a little tea for your heart. ☕💕
As June wrapped up with thick summer heat, I found myself needing a quiet pause—and I found it in a truly special place:
🫖 Afternoon Tea at The Whitney in Detroit.
My husband and I shared a gentle afternoon at this breathtaking 1894 mansion—thoughtfully preserved, filled with historic charm and a calm that makes time feel like it slows down.
We began with a mimosa and hibiscus tea, followed by a beautifully arranged tiered tray of tastes and textures:
Warm scones, fresh berries, and rich double crème
Tea Tower Delights:
Top Tier: Spinach & artichoke puff pastry, fig jam with herbed chèvre in phyllo
Middle Tier: Curry chicken salad, roasted beet hummus crostini with goat cheese
Bottom Tier: Pimento cheese on pumpernickel, egg salad with everything bagel seasoning
🍰 Dessert Trio: Coconut bar, strawberry mango tart, and key lime pie
Each bite brought its own quiet delight, layered with comfort and care.
My husband, though a bit outside his usual scene, honored my love for this experience—and because of that, it meant even more to me.
About The Whitney
Located in Detroit’s Midtown, The Whitney was once the home of lumber magnate David Whitney Jr. Built in 1894, this grand residence has been lovingly maintained and now welcomes guests with fine dining, ghost tours, and an afternoon tea experience that bridges history and hospitality.

As I write this, I’m also in the process of testing a new tea sample for PMS support. Instead of rushing to define it by ingredients, I’m spending time observing its flavor, color, and feeling—letting it speak slowly, the way good tea always does.

If you, too, want to go slowly,
I warmly invite you to visit a tea room this year.
A new experience may be waiting for your heart. 🌿🫖
