Menopause and the Natural Gifts of Tea
Hello, UR Happy Place Family~
Until last year, I didn’t fully understand what menopause symptoms were. But one day, out of nowhere, I started feeling a sudden warmth in the middle of my daily routine, and at night, I found myself tossing and turning, unable to reach deep sleep. I’ve never been someone whose emotions fluctuate drastically due to hormones, but I was often caught off guard by unexpected hot flashes throughout the day.
Then, a childhood memory came back to me—my mother, in the middle of winter, throwing open the windows, saying she was too hot. My dad, sister, and I would look at each other, laughing and wondering, Why is she doing that? But now, I find myself in that same stage of life.
And yet, I remind myself: this too shall pass. Instead of resisting, I’ve chosen to embrace menopause as a natural transition, striving to live a healthier life. And if you, like me, are navigating this journey, I wanted to create a comforting tea blend—a natural and gentle way to support our bodies during this phase without turning to hormone treatments. Something we can drink two or three times a day, as effortlessly as drinking water, to nurture and soothe us from within.
This past week, I celebrated a milestone—turning 50. Surrounded by love and warm wishes, I felt grateful and reminded to live more meaningfully. I may not always love every part of myself, but I hope to be a light to those around me.
For my birthday, I planned a quiet getaway with my husband by the sea or a lake, expecting spring’s arrival. Instead, we were met with snow! Yet, the time spent together, sharing deep conversations, was truly precious.
I had hoped to share sunny beach photos with my ur happy place family, but instead, here’s a serene winter lake—beautiful in its own way.

Understanding Menopause: Symptoms and Causes
Menopause is primarily caused by the decline in estrogen and progesterone levels, leading to physical and emotional changes.
1. Physical Symptoms
Hot flashes and night sweats – The hypothalamus, which regulates body temperature, becomes imbalanced, causing sudden waves of heat and excessive sweating.
Vaginal dryness and discomfort – The vaginal lining becomes thinner and drier, leading to discomfort and increased risk of infection.
Sleep disturbances – Night sweats and frequent urination disrupt deep sleep, leading to fatigue.
Muscle and joint pain – Hormonal changes can trigger inflammatory responses, leading to body aches.
Weight gain and body changes – Metabolism slows, often resulting in an increase in abdominal fat.
2. Emotional Symptoms
Anxiety and mood swings – Hormonal shifts impact serotonin and other neurotransmitters, leading to emotional ups and downs.
Memory fog and lack of focus – Sometimes called "brain fog," these cognitive shifts can result from hormonal changes and poor sleep.
3. Long-term Health Concerns
Osteoporosis – Lower estrogen levels reduce bone density, increasing the risk of fractures.
Heart disease – Cholesterol levels can rise, and blood vessel health may decline, elevating the risk of heart conditions.

Embracing Menopause with a Warm Heart
"Follow the direction in which your heart flows. At the end of the road, the version of yourself you’ve never met before will be waiting."
— Jung Jae-hyun, "When I Don’t Even Know My Own Heart"
Menopause is not just a phase to endure—it’s an opportunity to rediscover yourself. Rather than resisting emotions, take time to understand them.
"Sometimes, plants shed their leaves to protect themselves. We are the same. It’s okay to pause for a while."
— Lee So-young, "If Plants Are Unwell, Visit Me"
During times of change, instead of forcing yourself to push through, allow yourself moments of rest—like plants that conserve energy before blooming again.
"Silence is not weakness, but a form of inner strength. Sometimes, it conveys more than words ever could."
— Jamie Holmes, "The Art of Silence"
Even amidst the uncertainties of menopause, silence and introspection can bring a sense of calm and clarity. Taking a moment to be still and listen to yourself can be deeply healing.
If you’re experiencing menopause, know that you’re not alone. Let’s embrace this transition with warmth and wisdom, nourishing ourselves with gentle, natural support. A cup of tea, a deep breath, and a kind word to yourself—these small rituals can make all the difference.
This too shall pass, and in the meantime, we can choose to walk through it with grace and care.
